MUSINGS From The Mind of a Warrior
Thoughts From THE Downhill Racer

This musing was written by fellow Warrior Bill Reeves. Bill is an ass-kicking graphic artist and an indomitable competitor. For a mountain biker he's an old guy (37 years old), but his passion for competing in the insane world or hurling yourself down a mountain on a $7,000 piece of rubber and space age tubing is the essence of youth. Thanks for your insights, buddy!

Things I have learned from DH racing....

Its not more important to win than to give it your best.

Most of your actions will be imperfect.

Most of your decisions that result in success, will come very close to having a negative impact.

When you love something, there is no pain great enough to deter you from experiencing it.
Fear is the killer of the mind.
Never become so honed on the details, that you fail to see the path.
You will always collide on the object you seek to miss or dismiss.
Making 100 decisions a second requires that no one decision consume more of your time...be fair, be quick, or prepare for your crash.
Sometimes you succeed based on pure luck alone.
Everybody crashes....everybody...............its those who get back up and pull themselves out of the pain who see clearly.
Tires are better on the ground, not in the air; Rocks are meant to be ridden over; Speed and efficiency are your friends.
Improve the quality of your actions, and act less.
Real success is littered with really hard crashes.
Flow.....it is elusive, but when it occurs, you are art in motion.
The heart is stronger than the mind.
DownHill Racing is a team effort summed up with a single individual expression. Nothing replaces crossing a finish line and landing in the warm embrace of your team....nothing. Only then are you safe again.
"When I find myself fading, I close my eyes and realize my friends are my energy."
